So yeah, got bored the other day and picked up my PSP for the first time in ages; decided to play Criminal Girls, to see if it was any easier to understand compared to the last time I played it (a couple of years ago). Good news: It was much easier than before; I only had to look up a few words over the 10+ hours I've sunk into it the past couple of days. And I'm actually enjoying the story. Bad news: The game is pretty bad if you don't understand Japanese (though I understand someone made an English patch?) and can enjoy the plot or characters. EDIT: Got through it once, had this odd feeling of sadness for a couple of hours, like I usually do when I complete stories I got invested in.
Really weird that I got invested in this one though. By some unknown means, I've actually come to like this game, even though it's really not that good. Also, I mention at some point that I played the game for 18 hours, I must have glanced at the clock on the save file instead of the play time, because it's actually closer to thirty hours. (This is kind of a half-assed review from here on. Quelf board game wiki. I might copy this into a thread with some added stuff at some point, but it's not really much of a review; if anyone makes it through the wall of text, please tell me if you think I should post it as an actual game review or not). The combat system is boring, even by RPG standards. It has nearly random move selection (one for each of the four characters currently in the battle party), save for some context sensitive skills (mainly healing and support); there's some kind of logic to it, but it's not really useful to figure out.
Of course, none of it matters for most of the game anyway, since, for most of the game, battles mostly consist of picking the choice that will do the most damage to the enemies; battles get a little more complicated towards the end of the game, when enemies start hitting a lot harder and with status effects, but it's more of an annoyance than a fun challenge ('I was going to end this in one turn, but you just had to paralyze everyone before that move activated!' , and other such situations). Because the combat is so-so (at best) in the first place, it's just not fun when regular battles start getting stretched out so much. Most of the bosses are pitiful, they aren't particularly strong (the 'clearly a fake-out not-final boss' was easy enough that I beat it even though I forgot to stock up on healing items, which are OP in this game); they're certainly more fun than the regular battles, but only because they aren't regular battles, again, when the regular battles start getting more complicated (and some mid-bosses are actually reused as regular fodder), it takes a downturn, after not being good in the first place. It tries to be almost like a dungeon crawler with its floor layout, but there's not really anything to explore, and most treasures are just healing or buff items, since there's no equipment system in this game (another thing that makes constant fighting feel lacking). That's not to say there's nothing good hidden around: you can find a few story items on your way up the tower that get your mind wandering as to what the girls' pasts were like (but you don't actually pick them up, because that would remove the gigantic backtracking section, which is only tolerable if you're interested in the girls' pasts); you'll also find a few hidden chests (invisible on the map until you get close to them) that unlock combo moves, but again, the combat system sucks too much for this to feel like much of a reward, beyond simple completion.
So the combat and exploration sucks, but that's probably not why anyone got this game, so now is time to talk about the punishment system. If nothing else about the game's design made this impossible to play anywhere outside the confines of your bedroom, this definitely makes it so. It's not graphic in the least, and racier images can be found on billboards, but the sound and image design just make it seem wrong. But that's not really a problem for me, because I almost never play portable systems away from home! There's really not much to complain about here, other than it feeling like an excuse to make you grind for OP (oshioki points) if you want to unlock any skills or the mini-sorta-side-quests, which give a bit of flesh to the characters.
Criminal Girls Psp English Patch Download
The system itself is just a few tiered minigames that, after a couple runs, will unlock a skill; each one gets a little more complicated as you unlock its skills for each girl; getting a perfect score on the last level of each minigame will reveal the entire picture that you've only been able to catch peeks at before. Likely because of the lack of character development for all of the girls in the party on the last level, Sako's ending (and general behavior after being chosen as the knight) seems incredibly abrupt, since she went from being obsessed with her sister (to the point of stealing her used gym clothes and (implied) masturbating to them) to thinking of the teacher as the most important thing in her life (actually from the final girl's order from her, but close enough). I get that her obsessiveness with her sister (or rather, how she hid and protected that obsession) is what got her thrown into hell in the first place, but unlike all the other girls' problems, the fact that Sako has an incestuous love for her sister isn't actually resolved in the school level, just the lying and manipulation she used to keep Yuko for herself. It just seems really weird to me. Probably the least satisfying ending I could have picked for my first go-round. Final recap: Story: enjoyable -Plot: okay -Characters: good EDIT: -Ending (main plot): bleh EDIT: -Ending (girls): lacking resolution Gameplay: sucks -Exploration: bad -Battle: terrible Means next to nothing without context, of course, but I'm too lazy to bother with anything more consistent on what is essentially a ramble.

I am going to re-release the de-censored patch for the game that will work with any version and does not require a modified eboot. This patch replaces the data.dat file for the game. It can be used in a MAI dump as a 1:1 replacement for the decrypted data.dat, or it can be used as a Patch for a NoNpDrm dump.
This is just an initial testing patch. It removes the smoke and updates some of the menus back to show Punishment instead of motivation. This is possible due to a recent breakthrough on some specific files. I have tested the patch and it works and so far has not crashed. Though I have personally only played it a few minutes to verify the edits.
I am currently the only Vita owner active in the mod group for the game so I am asking for some help testing. Just drop the gameid folder into ux0:Patch, assuming you already have the NoNpDrm installed. Please report back any issues or success you have with the patch. Please note any places the menus might need to change or any changes we'd like done. Thank for your assistance.
By / January 24th, 2017 For those hoping for an uncensored version of Criminal Girls: Invite Only are in luck as modders have been making fan restoration patches for the PC version of the ecchi dungeon RPG, a formerly PlayStation-exclusive title. The Steam modders have been able to restore large portions of the game back to how it was in the orginal Japanese version, of course with the added inclusion of the English text. The following restorations have been done:.
Removed the fog during the Punishment mini-game. In the Western version, the fog remained throughout the entire mini-game, whereas in the original Japanese version this fog gradually disappears. A later patch allows you to toggle between having fog and no fog during these minigames by pressing Ctrl+S.
Futhermore, the restoration of the audio during the mini-game has also been done. The audio was removed during localisation. Finally, the modders have added in the Blindfold DLC from Japan that was never released in the West. This has the girls wearing blindfolds during the mini-game and commenting on how they cannot see.
There is still some work to do, including changing the name of the minigame from “Motivation” back to “Punishment” which was present in the original Japanese version and removing the zooming in of the camera that was carried out in some of the mini-games. Furthermore, a rep on NISA’s forums also that NISA’s no unrated games policy on Steam releases is set by NIS America themselves, and not their parent company in Japan.
